Want Coffee with Benefits? Add These 6 Super Powerful Ingredients!



Could it get any better than waking up to a cup of your favorite coffee? I say yes!  How about waking up to a cup of your favorite coffee filled with super powerful healthy ingredients that taste fantastic!

In the last few years, I am sure you have noticed the hype with bulletproof coffee. Some people are for it and some are not, for many different reasons.

Honestly, I have tried it a couple of times and really like the taste but it wasn’t until my friend Charlene shared a sample of her “Coffee with Benefits” at our small group workout class that I really took notice; let me share why.

Charlene McCulloghCharlene is a friend, a workout buddy, and a doctor. Not just any doctor, she is a doctor that you want to listen to when it comes to nutrition.  She has a Master of Science Degree with a duo major in Biochemistry and Nutrition Science from the University of Tennessee and a Doctor of Letters Degree in Education.  Over the last 30 years, she has lectured worldwide, set up numerous professional offices and industrial workplace Wellness Programs and taught “Healthy and Effective Lifestyles at Lee University. If that didn’t get your attention, let me share a little about her personally.

Charlene is a 78-year-old who works out, travels and ministers more than most people half her age.  You see why I take notice when Charlene shares nutritional insights.

Now that you know a little about Charlene lets talk about her amazing coffee with benefits.  I will do my best to share with you some of the key benefits she has shared with me.

Grass-Fed Ghee Butter can be found at your local health food store and some local grocery stores.  It is a clarified butter that has shown to improve bone and brain health, lower cholesterol, boost the immune system, increases metabolism and lubricates connective tissue that promotes flexibility. Turmeric can be found at your local health food store. They will sell quality organic powder.  Turmeric reduces inflammation from arthritis and is a fantastic natural pain reliever. Ceylon Cinnamon can be found in your local health food store. Studies have shown it to lower blood sugar, triglycerides, and blood pressure.  It is also anti-microbial and anti-parasitic with digestive health benefits. Liquid Cayenne Pepper can be bought at the health food store but you will probably not find the brand Charlene recommends.  She recommends Dr. Schulze’s Liquid Cayenne Pepper because of its potency.  It ranks 250,000 on the Heat Unit. These drops will dramatically increase your blood flow and lymphatic flow.  They also strengthen your heart, arteries, capillaries and nerves.  These drops last quite a long time since you are only using 2-3 drops per day. Liquid Stevia can be bought at your local health food store.  She recommends the NOW Brand alcohol-free Stevia Glycerite because it has no bitter aftertaste. Charlene recommends the drops because it is much easier to blend but you can use the powder if you prefer.  Stevia is a natural sweetener that does not contribute calories or carbohydrates to your diet.  Studies have shown that it has minimal to no effects on blood sugar, insulin levels, hypertension, and body weight.


Special Instructions: Take 1/4 cup of your Ghee Butter and 1/4 Cup of your Coconut Oil and mix together then place in a container that you can leave on your counter top.  It does not need to be refrigerated.  You will use this blend to mix in your “coffee with benefits”.


#1 BREW – Brew up your favorite coffee

#2 HEAT –  Heat your blender or Bullet with hot water while coffee is brewing then pour out before adding your coffee.

#3 FROTH – Add your coffee, Ghee & Coconut Blend, Tumeric, Cinnamon, Liquid Cayenne Pepper, Stevia and Half & Half or Almond Milk.  Blend about 10 seconds.  This should make a thick foamy froth.  Don’t try mixing with a spoon it won’t work.


Charlene recommends adjusting any of the ingredients above to your liking.  If you want it a little hotter add more Cayenne or a little sweeter add more stevia.  She only recommends that you use every element as they all provide very specific health benefits and work synergistically.

I was lucky enough to have Charlene whip me up a cup after a morning workout last year and loved it.  I’m not sure I would have even tried it if she had not encouraged me.  I am so glad she did!  Let me encourage you to try all six ingredients the first time.  I think you will find that it is perfectly balanced and has amazing flavor.

Oh, and guess who asks me to make him a cup every morning? If you guessed Terry, you’d be right.  The first time I had him try it he gave me that look but tried it with a nudge.  He is also glad he did.  He likes it more than just plain coffee.
